Who We Are

Who We Are

Founded in 1990, the NCSTA is a network of septic industry professionals dedicated to serving the onsite wastewater community and the companies within.

We fight to protect the rights of our members  and the industry as a whole while promoting professional, ethical and sustainable practices throughout the industry.

We serve our member organizations in three primary ways: Education, Advocacy and Unification.

we exist to

Educate

The NCSTA offers required continuing education courses to both member and non-member companies within the wastewater industry. NCSTA members and any associated employee can attend continuing education courses free of charge.

We also provide installer-specific certification courses for companies seeking  to become licensed septic installers.

we exist to

Advocate

We protect the rights and interests of wastewater industry professionals from overreach and burdensome legislation.

We take an active role in working with government agencies to intercept practices and regulations that place unnecessary restrictions on our members and the onsite wastewater industry as a whole.

Some of the most significant legislative contributions we’ve made include:

N

Led legislation that promoted private options for obtaining permits

N

Won state revenue tax exemption on products and services used every day in our industry

N

Effected change at the national level that wouldhave brought unreasonable burden on our tank manufacturers through OSHA rules

N

Established the NC Onsite Wastewater Contractors and Inspectors Certification Board, an independent occupational board free of control by any primary unit of state.

N

We've passed legislation that would have stopped unites of government from prohibiting the use of onsite wastewater systems

we exist to

Unify

We believe there is strength in numbers. As such, our mission is to foster connections between service providers, manufacturers, and suppliers in the onsite wastewater industry.

Together, we create a unified network of organizations that promotes the health and sustainability of the industry.

We provide regular networking opportunities at education and training events as well as our annual expo and convention, which is the second-largest onsite wastewater expo in the nation.
